Korohere is the first person in Aotearoa to complete a PhD thesis in te reo Maori. Korohere is a renown Māori academic, and led the way in language revitalisation, with a focus on his local iwi in Hauraki. He worked as a Faculty of Education lecturer at Waikato University for more than 15 years, and has taught at many kura throughout Waikato.
